Abstract

The current Cuban phytogeographic district schemes are incongruous with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS), for which it is determined in this work to analyze their delimitation in the Central Cuba sector in a GIS environment, in relation to the influence of physical-geographic factors, selected by reviewing cartographic sources (mainly orographic and lithological), existing information in Cuban databases, spatial analysis and interpretation of satellite images. As a result, the limits of the phytogeographic districts outlined by Samek, Borhidi and Muñiz for the Central Cuba Sector were adjusted, which allowed obtaining a digital map of fourteen phytogeographic districts for Western Cuba.
