Abstract

The Yucatan Vireo (Vireo magister) is a non-migratory bird belonging to the family Vireonidae that has populations on the eastern coasts of Mexico and Belize, as well as on some nearby islands and Grand Cayman. This species has only been reported once outside its range, in 1984 in the United States. On the morning of October 2nd, 2023, a V. magister was captured on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula as part of a migratory bird banding and monitoring project.
